Life Lesson by Neé Neé

Well, I can't remember much advice my mom has ever given me that really stuck with me. Despite her futile attempts to trap me in her deer stand during hunting season to discuss the birds and the bees, I never got much out of it. Probably because my constant eye rolling was making me see tracers like I just dropped some acid. OK OK I know I had/have a little attitude problem, but I am seriously working on it. Anyway...

There is one thing that I remember that Neé Neé told me that stuck. I was in 3rd grade and there was a big swim party coming up on the weekend. Well, some how I got some rust in my eye and had to have it removed. I had to wear a patch for like a week. Well you know the first thing that I pitched a fit over...the swim party. If you were ever a 3rd grade girl...in Evadale...a swim party was a make you or break you event. I couldn't get in the water. At that point in life, I thought a good Harris fit would fix anything and I gave it my all. I wished that I was grown so I could make my own decisions. Finally, my mama said that even she, as a grown-up, had issues that got in the way of her plans all the time. That I would realize as I got older you can't always make things go your way. I didn't really believe that.

Well, recently someone told me that a good way to make God laugh is to tell him your plans. I believe it. Everytime I make a full go at making a plan, it falls a part. So if someone ask if I like to set goals, am I a planner. My response will be, "I'm a contingency planner"
