New Kid on the next block over...

So I just started in a new department about month ago. It's really cool and finally if I don't want to talk to anyone all day, I don't have to. I can just email and work at my desk. However, I am starting to feel a little alienated. My team all sit together in a group of cubes. I guess they ran out of room when I came over and I'm in "overflow" area all alone. At first I was getting to know everyone because my trainer sits in the "in" area and I was cool by association. Now I'm in my hole away from the gang. I can hear the conversations and laugh along sometimes, but I feel like when I join group talk across the wall, they all look at each other like who the hell is that. I'm like Wilson on "Home Improvement." I joined the breakfast potluck to have some social interaction because we stage the food in a spare cube in the "in" area, but that's not helping. The food got a better cube than me. I can imagine the conversation at a staff meeting..."where should we put the new girl, in the spare cube in the group?"...."No way that is where we put breakfast on potluck day" I need some draw to my area...just got to figure out what.

Maybe you should keep a mini fridge stocked with bud light in your cube..that would make you popular. Also on the bright side being away from everyone they don't know what you're up to, you could not do any work all day and make all the personal calls you want, hell you could even just watch DVDs on your computer for several hours a day.

Maybe you need some of my Christmas Cookies in a huge display in your cube so they have to come by. Then we'll lace them with something addictive and that'll keep them coming back. Bud Light works too...

I have heard that stores have popcorn machines so that people will be drawn to them and linger awhile-perhaps you should invest in a popcorn machine. No one can resist it-if you don't mind the potential of someone slipping on a butter spill and risking a possible lawsuit...
